The TATWEER project in Erbil, Baghdad, Basrah, Anbar, and Nineveh, implemented by Al-Mesalla in partnership with UPP Organization and supported by the European Union (note that Al-Mesalla is implementing it directly in the Erbil Governorate), aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Iraq. Focusing on advancing human rights, gender equality, environmental rights, and good governance, the project seeks to amplify the collective voice of Iraqi civil society and promote positive societal change.

At the heart of the Tatweer project lies a holistic approach that integrates consultations, specialized services, and training programs provided by the Civil Society Services Center of The Al-Mesalla in Erbil. Central to its methodology is the provision of small and medium-sized grants to civil society organizations, accompanied by support mechanisms and ongoing capacity-building initiatives. This comprehensive strategy emphasizes moving away from short-term and ad hoc interventions, recognizing the effectiveness of sustainable and long-term engagement in nurturing the growth and impact of CSOs. Through TATWEER, organizations are equipped with the tools and resources to develop effective strategies and overcome complexities, positioning them as vital development partners within their communities. By fostering an enabling environment for organizational growth and effectiveness.

In short, TATWEER stands as a beacon of empowerment and collaboration, harnessing the potential of civil society organizations to bring about positive societal change. Through strategic investments in capacity building and sustainable support, Tatweer seeks to achieve a future in which Iraqi civil society emerges as a tremendous force for progress and growth.
