Exploring the complete story and its impact
Sinjar, Iraq
In a pioneering step toward improving the lives of displaced persons and returnees in the aftermath of conflict, Al-Mesalla, in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), organized a large-scale job fair in Sinjar.
This initiative is part of the project “Enhancing Safety and Economic Opportunities for IDPs and Returnees,” which seeks to foster sustainable development and strengthen economic recovery in the region.
A Strong Turnout and Wide Participation
The exhibition witnessed a remarkable turnout, attracting over 500 men and women eager to find job opportunities, integrate into the labor market, and improve their living conditions. Numerous employers and institutions took part, showcasing their commitment to supporting this vital segment of society.
As part of Al-Mesalla’s Economic Rehabilitation and Development Program, the job fair served as a direct platform for connecting job seekers with employers, while also helping individuals acquire the skills needed to thrive in today’s labor market.
Voices of Hope from the Fair
- Azad, one of the job seekers, shared:
“The fair was an opportunity for everyone to get a job. My sister got a job through it last year, and I came this year with the same hope and optimism.”
- Marwa, owner of a pastry shop in Sinjar, said:
“Thanks to the exhibition, I got to know a group of experienced people, and now I am looking forward to hiring them to enhance my business.”
These stories reflect how the initiative is not only creating opportunities for job seekers but also helping businesses expand and flourish.
Commitment to Rebuilding Lives
The project “Enhancing Safety and Economic Opportunities for IDPs and Returnees” underscores the joint commitment of Al-Mesalla and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to advance economic resilience, rebuild lives in conflict-affected areas, and contribute to sustainable development in Iraq.
By bringing together employers, entrepreneurs, and job seekers, the initiative helps lay the foundation for a brighter future where displaced and returning individuals can once again become active contributors to their communities.
